Waterfalls, whitewater, and the GAP trail — all within minutes. Here's a Friday-to-Sunday Ohiopyle itinerary with a Laurel Highlands cabin as your basecamp.
Ohiopyle State Park packs an astonishing amount of adventure into a small footprint — and it's all within minutes of our cabins. Here's a relaxed but full summer weekend.
Friday — arrive & settle in
Check in, get the hot tub going, and grab dinner in town. Ease into the weekend; the adventure starts tomorrow.
Saturday — waterfalls & whitewater
- Start at Cucumber Falls, a stunning bridal-veil waterfall you can walk right up to — the most-photographed spot in the region.
- Spend the afternoon whitewater rafting or kayaking the Youghiogheny ("the Yough") — guided trips run from beginner-friendly to genuinely thrilling.
- Cool off with a swim, then head back to the cabin for a fire-pit dinner.
Sunday — ride the GAP & a Wright detour
- Rent bikes and roll a flat, scenic stretch of the Great Allegheny Passage along the river.
- On your way out, tour Fallingwater, Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpiece cantilevered over a waterfall, just up the road (fallingwater.org).
