CHECK-IN & DEPARTURE Check-in is from 3:00 PM. Departure is by 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late checkout can sometimes be arranged in advance for a fee — please ask, and treat it as confirmed only once we have confirmed it. WHO MAY STAY Everyone staying must be named on the booking, and the booking must cover the full size of your party. We cannot admit guests who were not booked, including day visitors — please ask us first if your plans change. Every guest aged 16 or over should carry valid government-issued photo ID. NO SMOKING No smoking, vaping or e-cigarettes anywhere on the property, indoors or out, by anyone staying or visiting. This is absolute. Smoke remediation is charged to the guest. QUIET HOURS, AND NO PARTIES Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. These are homes among other homes, and there is a local ordinance to this effect. No parties or events of any kind, and no amplified or loud music at any hour. PETS Up to two well-behaved pets are welcome with prior arrangement and the pet fee. Pets are never permitted in the hot tub or sauna, and should not be left alone in the house. Service animals are not pets, are always welcome, and are never charged a fee. PARKING Park in the spaces belonging to the unit. Please do not block neighbouring units, shared drives or fire lanes. LOOKING AFTER THE HOUSE Please do not move beds, sofas or appliances, even if you intend to put them back. Do not bring additional appliances — space heaters, portable air conditioners and dehumidifiers in particular. Report anything broken or missing when you find it, not at the end; we would much rather fix it while you are here. BEFORE YOU GO Dirty dishes in the dishwasher, used towels in the hamper, bedding left on the beds. Bag all trash, tie the bags, and put them inside the bins at the collection point described in the house guide — never on the porch, deck, lawn or driveway. Close and lock the windows, turn off the lights, and set the heating back as directed in the house guide. TRASH — HIDDEN VALLEY RULES This home sits inside the Hidden Valley community, whose rules apply to you as our guest. The community inspects and issues written violations to the homeowner for trash left outside, and we treat every one of them as the guest's responsibility. - Nothing may be left outdoors: no bags, cans, bottles, food or packaging on the porch, deck, hot tub area, lawn or driveway — not overnight, not "just for now". - All trash goes in tied bags, inside the lidded bins at the collection point described in the house guide. Recyclables (cans and bottles) go in the same bins unless the guide says otherwise. - Bring cans and bottles indoors before you turn in for the night, and do a last walk around the outside of the house before you leave. Any trash left outdoors, and any fine or fee the community issues because of your stay, is charged to the guest in full, and the guest and the booking party are barred from booking any of our homes again. This is enforced without exception. THIS HOUSE IN PARTICULAR Hot water: a single 50-gallon tank. Several showers in a row, or a shower followed straight away by filling the jacuzzi, will run it down — allow around 45 minutes for it to recover. Sauna and jacuzzi: use is at your own risk, and the instructions on each door are the ones that matter. Never use either after drinking alcohol. Take care getting in and out of the jacuzzi — it is easy to feel light-headed standing up. Both are unsuitable for some medical conditions; if in doubt, don't. Wood stove (winter): follow the printed instructions beside the stove. Never leave a fire unattended, keep children and pets away from it, and keep anything burnable three feet clear. Wood is stocked for you. There is a fire extinguisher in the pantry by the entrance. Heating: the house is on baseboard heat, and the thermostat should not be set above 72°F. The wood stove is the efficient way to make the house properly warm. Winter water: the supply is turned on at the lower valve to the left of the water tank in the downstairs utility room, and must be turned off at the same valve when you leave.
