What the trees actually looked like in Hidden Valley on October 7: mostly green, with yellow and rust coming in. Photographed from the deck at South Ridge and the porch at Kooser.
Foliage maps are guesses. So here is what Hidden Valley actually looked like on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, photographed that morning at two of our houses.

The short version: early
From the deck at South Ridge, the valley was still mostly green, with yellow and rust starting to come through in patches. Clear sky, warm sun, and the long view out to the ridges. Not peak. The start of it.
From the house

The South Ridge deck is where the colour is best watched: an egg chair, a covered porch with a table, and the treeline right below the rail.

Inside, a bedroom on the valley side gets the same view through both windows. South Ridge sleeps 16, with a hot tub over the valley.

Over at Kooser

At Kooser, our townhouse in the same community, the yellow was further along at the edge of the porch. Kooser sleeps 10, with a private hot tub, a cedar sauna and a woodstove.
Planning a fall trip
Colour moves week to week, and so do the festivals. Our fall festivals calendar has every date checked against the organiser, and if a weekend is open at one of our houses, the booking page shows it at today's direct price. We'll add a new dated report as the colour comes in.
